U.S. Patent for Faceplate That Enables Quick Removal and Securing of Encryption Device Issued to TeleCommunication Systems, Inc
ANNAPOLIS, MD--(Marketwire - May 25, 2010) - TeleCommunication Systems, Inc. (TCS) (
TCS provides a set of systems, methods and specialized equipment for a portable, deployable communication system that can route secure communications via the Internet. A central part of this system is a small, lightweight and extremely flexible and adaptable "reach-back" communications terminal capable of being quick, convenient and easy to use with a variety of network environments. The TCS system is more secure than conventional systems while allowing the use of non-secure data transport systems.
This patent describes an innovative personality faceplate that holds the terminal's encryption communication device. This faceplate features easy and quick removal of the encryption device as well as data path configuration modes for data, voice, packetized data and streaming data. Interfaces can include PSTN, PBX, GSM, Satellite Wireless, Internet Protocol, and WiFi. The faceplate also provides extraordinary flexibility in encryption device connection, including the ability to remove an encryption device from a reach-back terminal without requiring the user to physically secure a non-secure communication portion of the communication device.
"The use of lightweight, portable terminals for secure communication can be a critical differentiator in military field operations," said Drew Morin, chief technology officer of TCS. "Today's Warfighters are often on the front line, working in the most remote places. It is vital that their equipment be reliable, secure and portable. TCS is dedicated to making these systems just that and the faceplate described in the '902 patent is an example of how TCS innovation is making good on that commitment."
TCS now holds 114 patents worldwide with over 300 applications pending. To learn more about TCS patents, please visit: [ http://www.telecomsys.com/about/ip-licensing/patents.aspx ]
