IRVINE, CA and MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA--(Marketwire - May 25, 2010) - [ Paragon Software Group ], the technology leader in innovative data security and data management solutions, and [ Cavium Networks ] (NASDAQ: [ CAVM ]), a leading provider of semiconductor products that enable intelligent processing for networking, communications and the digital home, today announced that Paragon's [ Universal File System Driver (UFSD) ] technology supports Cavium's ECONA dual-core ARM-based processor family. The combined solution will be used by consumer and SMB/SOHO equipment manufactures that serve the NAS, multimedia systems, storage appliances, and networking markets.

Cavium's [ ECONA CNS3XXX ] family of highly integrated ARM-based SoC processors offers a rich set of integrated hardware accelerators for voice, video and data connectivity at low-power operation. The ECONA family of products is used in applications such as FTTH broadband gateways, network attached storage appliances, multimedia picture frames, media and print servers, IP cameras, and wireless access points. The ECONA family of products will feature both [ NTFS for Linux ] and HFS+ for Linux, two of Paragon's ultra-fast kernel-based drivers based on its noted UFSD technology, which will allow all PCs and servers connected to Cavium-based network products to have full access to Windows®- and Mac®-formatted external HDDs regardless of their operating system.

Paragon's patented UFSD technology was developed to provide full high-performance access (read/write, format, etc.) under various platforms (Windows, Mac, Linux, VxWorks, etc.) to volumes of the most popular file systems (NTFS, HFS+, Ext2/3FS, etc.) which otherwise would not be supported. The high performance aspect of the UFSD technology is critical for network storage, in which multiple users simultaneously download, play back, and share content.

"Enabling PCs and servers on the network, regardless of their operating system, to access and share files to and from attached hard drives at the highest speeds possible is a critical feature for today's market with diverse applications and consumer devices accessing the storage," said Sridhar Gollapudi, senior director of marketing in the Connected Home and Office Group (CHOG) at Cavium Networks. "Paragon's NTFS for Linux and HFS+ for Linux offer our customers a world-class cross-platform file compatibility solution for the storage market."

"Cavium Networks is setting the bar for high-performance networking, communications, storage, video, and security processors, and we are very pleased to be a part of their solution ecosystem," said Tom Fedro, president of Paragon Software Group. "We are committed to advancing the availability of cross-platform file compatibility, and Cavium provides an ideal means to expand the reach of our technology."
