TORONTO, Jan. 6 /CNW/ - Medworxx Inc. ("Medworxx") (TSXV: MWX), provider of healthcare solutions for patient flow, compliance and education, is pleased to announce that the Shared Service Organization representing British Columbia Health Authorities has licensed two elements of the Medworxx Patient Flow Platform. Fraser Health Authority will be the first health authority in BC to use the Medworxx Utilization Management System (UMS) and Independent Assessment Platform for their acute care program.

The contract is expected to bring over $1.1 million in revenue to Medworxx over 5 years. The nine largest hospitals in the Fraser Health Authority will be using Medworxx, monitoring 1,750 beds.

The Medworxx UMS delivers a patient-centric focus of daily assessments of every patient, and provides a series of criteria sets for different patient populations to determine their appropriateness of admission and each continued day of care. Medworxx further improves the patient flow in hospitals by quickly identifying barriers, delays, and interruptions to the plan of care for immediate resolution, as well as establishing a common framework for improved interdisciplinary communication.

"We believe the Medworxx UMS will complement our iCare program, improving patient flow within the entire Health Authority and enhancing interdisciplinary communication," said Laura Case, Director, Systems Analysis, Access & Performance, Fraser Health Authority. "We look forward to working with Medworxx to achieve measurable results in all of our acute care facilities."

Fraser Health Authority's iCare program is a model of practice that focuses upon recovering current capacity that is inefficiently or ineffectively utilized in order to facilitate, expedite, and streamline the flow of a greater number of patients through the system. Its broad mandate includes efficiency improvement at every point in the continuum of care.

"We are extremely excited to welcome Fraser Health Authority to the family of Medworxx customers", said Dan Matlow, President & CEO, Medworxx. "Medworxx has successfully implemented our Utilization Management System at hospitals, regions, and even on a provincial level across Canada. We are confident the Fraser Health will see improvements in patient flow and we look forward to working with them and then other members of the BC Health Authority."
