MONARCH BEACH, CA and PLEASANTON, CA--(Marketwire - September 15, 2009) - Polycom, Inc. (NASDAQ: [ PLCM ]), the global leader in telepresence, video, and voice communications solutions, today announced that it has once again been named to the 2009 InformationWeek 500, an annual listing of the nation's most innovative users of business technology. Polycom has earned this recognition for two consecutive years. This year, InformationWeek editors honored Polycom for its next-gen Web project, which involved retooling the company's online presence including a number of intranet and extranet sites.

"The goal of our project was to radically change the online experience for Polycom's customers, partners and employees," said Polycom CIO Glenn Noga. "Since launching the project, we've seen significant cost savings due to streamlined and improved globalization practices. Additionally, our employees, partners, and customers all benefit from the improved access to information and the time saved accessing that information online."

A collaborative effort between Polycom's IT and corporate marketing groups, the next-gen Web project aimed to better align the web and portal sites with Polycom's business objectives and offer the stability, scalability, improved content management, customer ease-of-use, access to back-office systems, and new functionality. In addition to making it easier for Polycom stakeholders to navigate the Web site and locate information, the team also wanted to change how Polycom customers and partners to do business with the company.

"The improved infrastructure has resulted in a better public Web site," added Noga. "This amount of time spent by customers on the site has increased. More partners have registered to use the new features and functions on the site, and what's more, the costs and effort required to keep the sites current have decreased dramatically. The project has been a tremendous success, and I'm proud of the team that helped implement it."

The 2009 InformationWeek 500 companies were revealed on September 14, 2009 at an awards ceremony held during the InformationWeek 500 Conference at the St. Regis Monarch Beach Resort in Dana Point, California.

"For more than 20 years, the InformationWeek 500 has honored the most innovative users of business technology," said InformationWeek Editor-in-Chief Rob Preston. "Year after year, InformationWeek 500 companies harness technology to improve efficiency, boost productivity, drive revenue, and establish a competitive advantage. We applaud this year's winners, including Polycom, and the CIOs and other executives whose ingenuity and risk taking are at the center of business technology innovation."

InformationWeek identifies and honors the nation's most innovative users of information technology with its annual 500 listing, now in its 21st year, and also tracks the technology, strategies, investments and administrative practices of America's best-known companies. Top winners have included: Conway, National Semiconductor, Kimberly-Clark, Hilton Hotels and Unum. The InformationWeek 500 rankings are unique among corporate rankings as it spotlights the power of innovation in information technology, rather than simply identifying the biggest IT spenders.
