ACS e-Recording Solution for California Counties Passes Critical Test
DALLAS--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--[ Affiliated Computer Services, Inc. ] (NYSE: ACS) today announced that its innovative e-recording solution, developed for a consortium of California counties, has passed its first test and is scheduled for deployment in late March.
ACS is developing the Electronic Recording Delivery System (ERDS) for the [ California Electronic Recording Transaction Network Authority ] (CeRTNA), an organization of counties sharing expertise and resources in the design, development, implementation and operation of an ERDS that supports statewide standards for the e-recording and return of documents.
The ACS-developed e-recording system allows submitters, such as title agents, banks, lenders and local governments, to electronically send land record documents to county recorders. This system is the first ERDS in the country slated to be state-certified for document security. For counties, the system will save money, time and paper; both counties and submitters will benefit from more accurate processing, and increased efficiency and flexibility.
"This system is a win-win. Our testing has shown how effective the system will be for participating counties and for those who have faced the hassles associated with submitting paper documents," said Patrick Honny, CeRTNA executive director. "We welcome every county in California to join CeRTNA and actively participate in developing a standardized statewide recording solution."
When testing is complete, Fresno County will be the first county certified by California's Office of the Attorney General to use the ERDS system on a day-to-day basis. Other participating counties are expected to follow soon.
"This successful test of the ACS-developed e-recording solution is another example of how we understand the needs of local agencies and work closely with our clients to find innovative, cost-saving solutions," said [ Joe Doherty ], executive vice president and group president of [ ACS Government Solutions ]. "Our partnership with CeRTNA will benefit the counties who join the consortium by allowing them to devote additional time, money and resources to helping the citizens they serve."
