Two NKY educators among six KY finalists for Presidential Award in mathematics and science

  • Six Kentucky educators have been selected as state finalists and are now eligible to receive a Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST), the nation's highest honor for K-12 science,

Two Northern Kentucky educators, Emily Collins from Beechwood Independent Schools and Dr. Sarah Thompson from Boone County Schools, are among the six finalists from Kentucky for the prestigious Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching. This award, which is the nation's highest honor for K-12 science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and/or computer science teachers, recognizes their outstanding contributions to education. Collins, a high school mathematics teacher, and Thompson, a middle school science teacher, were selected for their innovative teaching methods and dedication to student success. The finalists will be reviewed by a national committee, and winners will be announced later this year, receiving a trip to Washington, D.C., a certificate signed by the President, and a $10,000 award from the National Science Foundation.
