The Office of Science and Technology Policy requested input on a plan through a technology R&D office at the National Science Foundation.

The Trump administration, through the Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP), has initiated a call for public input to help shape a national strategy on artificial intelligence (AI). This request for information (RFI) seeks to gather insights on how the U.S. can maintain its leadership in AI technology, focusing on areas like research and development, workforce training, ethical considerations, and international collaboration. The RFI was part of a broader effort to develop an AI action plan, following President Trump's executive order in February 2019, which aimed to enhance America's AI capabilities. The deadline for public comments was set for June 24, 2019, with the goal of integrating these inputs into a comprehensive AI strategy to be released later in the year.
