Tencent was added to the Defense Department's list of "Chinese military companies," contributing to a selloff in U.S.-listed shares of the WeChat owner.

The Pentagon has recently expanded its list of Chinese companies identified as having military affiliations, now including major players like YMTC, Megvii, Hesai Technology, and NetPosa. This designation, which now covers 43 companies, is part of a broader U.S. strategy to restrict American investments in these firms due to national security concerns.
