Francisco Sagasti, a former Peruvian president, transitioned from academia to politics, becoming a significant figure in Peru's political landscape. His unexpected rise to the presidency came in November 2020 following the tumultuous period after President Martín Vizcarra's impeachment. Sagasti, known for his calm demeanor and technocratic approach, took office with the mandate to restore stability and guide Peru towards new elections. His brief tenure was marked by efforts to manage the ongoing political crisis, address the economic impacts of the global health crisis, and push for reforms in governance and transparency.
