Network Equipment Technologies Gains Certification as Enterprise Session Border Controller (E-SBC) With Telstra

NET's UX Series Gateway With E-SBC Provides Core Interoperability With Telstra's SIP Connect to Accelerate the Adoption of SIP Trunking for Enterprise Customers

FREMONT, CA--(Marketwire - Jun 11, 2012) - Network Equipment Technologies, Inc. ("NET") (NASDAQ: [ NWK ]), a leading provider of enterprise-class networking solutions optimized for secure real-time communications in unified communications (UC), SIP Trunking and enterprise mobility, announced today that its UX Series is now certified as an Enterprise-Session Border Controller (E-SBC) for Telstra's Next IP® SIP Connect service. Telstra is Australia's leading telecommunications and information services company.

All of Telstra's voice and data traffic is carried over Telstra's Next IP® SIP Connect service, a next generation wireline network that offers unprecedented scale and reach, plus quality of service to prioritize time-sensitive voice traffic. The addition of NET's UX Series with E-SBC gives enterprise customers the opportunity to adopt this powerful IP-based service from Telstra without needing costly and prohibitive upgrades to their existing PBX and IP-PBX systems, as well as providing a common platform for Microsoft Lync 2010 customers who want either to use their existing ISDN service with SIP Connect or to adopt Telstra's SIP Connect service to replace their existing ISDN service.

The UX Series' is a vendor-neutral device that can serve as an enhanced media gateway, a Survivable Branch Appliance (SBA) and an E-SBC, concurrently. This gives customers a flexible and powerful platform that can deliver the interoperability features that are commonly required in an enterprise environment. It also allows customers to rapidly and confidently adopt leading collaborative communications systems such as Microsoft Lync, as well as powerful emerging IP-based carrier services, such as Telstra's Next IP® network.

The UX Series, in an E-SBC role, provides high-performance VoIP communications for enterprise deployments with Telstra SIP Connect services, with capacity support ranging from five to 600 simultaneous calls. The UX Series routes SIP sessions, converts signaling and media, and acts as a demarcation device between the customer's enterprise network and the Telstra network for establishing a reliable communication service.

NET's UX Series has also been 'Certified Secure' by Miercom, an independent test lab specializing in testing networking and communications equipment.

"NET has seen steady growth in the Australia and New Zealand market over the past two years, with customers deploying NET products for their Microsoft Lync and E-SBC requirements," said Maurizio Fragasso, Regional Manager for NET Australia & New Zealand. "This added certification is another great achievement for us. NET and Telstra are now able to collaboratively respond to a customer's SIP Connect requirements with a secure, reliable and flexible enterprise grade solution made possible by the capabilities of our UX Series and Telstra's Next IP® SIP Connect service."
