TCS' ICM technology enables subscribers to send messages to subscribers in other carrier networks by simply entering the recipient's phone number. This technology is currently used in TCS' wireless Internet gateway and message data center product offerings.
"This alliance is an important step in our plan to monetize the company's intellectual property," said Maurice B. Tosé, TCS chairman, CEO and president. "Acacia Research is a premiere patent licensing company; and we believe that their scale, specialized expertise, and track record indicate that this alliance will enable us to efficiently optimize our return on the company's investment in these patents."
"TCS' innovative and market-leading technology is impressive, and their ICM portfolio is a prime example of that," said Paul Ryan, president and CEO of Acacia. "This alliance helps TCS realize fair value from their research and development investment in these litigation-tested patents while supporting future R&D by patent holders for the benefit of their customers."
