Supertex's New High Voltage, Analog Switch Occupies Less Board Space Than Electromechanical Relays in Medical Ultrasound Probes

HV2808 Reduces PCB Area and Increases System Reliability

SUNNYVALE, CA--(Marketwire - Dec 22, 2011) - Supertex (NASDAQ: [ SUPX ]), a recognized leader in high voltage analog and mixed signal integrated circuits (ICs), today introduced HV2808, a thirty-two channel, high voltage, analog switch IC designed for use in medical ultrasound imaging systems as a probe selection device. It replaces the typical electromechanical relays performing the probe selection function and takes up less printed circuit board (PCB) area, emits no audible noise and increases system reliability.

HV2808 serves as a sixteen-pole, double throw (16PDT), high voltage switch array. Using Supertex's proprietary HVCMOS technology, the IC efficiently controls analog signals with low power CMOS logic and high voltage bilateral DMOS switches. It features a very low quiescent current of 10uA for low heat dissipation and a DC analog signal frequency to 50MHz for wide bandwidth response for any type of ultrasound probe.

"Using HV2808 to control medical ultrasound probes offers a number of advantages over electromechanical relays," states Stephen Lin, Vice President of Marketing for Supertex. "First, it comes in an 8x8x1mm QFN-56 package, so it not only saves on PCB area, but also on height. Second, HV2808 emits no audible noise, and third, the IC can switch from one probe to another in about 30us."

HV2808 is available in a 56-lead QFN package (HV2808K6-G). The part is RoHS compliant. Samples are available from stock. Lead-time for production quantities is 4-6 weeks ARO. Pricing is US$12.54 each for the HV2808K6-G in 1K quantities.
