ASTech Recognizes Sustainable Energy for Innovation in Solar System Integration

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - Dec. 14, 2011) - Sustainable Energy (TSX VENTURE:STG) was selected from over 50 nominations as the award winner for Outstanding Achievement in Environmental Technology and Innovation by the Alberta Science and Technology Leadership Foundation. The ASTech Awards are the premiere acknowledgement of scientific and technological achievement in Alberta and are announced at a banquet held annually in Calgary or Edmonton.

The Company was recognized for its innovation in solar system integration techniques based on its proprietary Paralex inverters. Paralex systems deliver reliable performance no matter where they are installed and are easily adapted to meet structural or layout restrictions without impacting system performance or electrical design. These features are critical to streamlining the installation business as falling equipment costs drive the industry toward standardized kits rather than custom designed solutions.

"There is growing adoption of our approach as more and more residential, agricultural and small commercial systems are being sold as integrated kits," said Brent Harris, Chief Technology Officer at Sustainable Energy Technologies. "We are very honoured to have been recognized by Alberta's Science and Technology community with this award, and appreciate what a supportive environment Alberta has provided for new product development and evaluation."

The Company would like to thank the ASTech Foundation for its promotion of science and technology in Alberta, Innovate Calgary for nominating and supporting us over many years and Agrium for its generous sponsorship of the award. The Company plans to use the proceeds of the award to support the extension of our ongoing research collaboration with University of Alberta and Alberta Advanced Education and Technology.
