TeleCommunication Systems Selected by North Central Texas Council of Governments for Next Generation 9-1-1 Systems and Services
Solution Expected to Be One of the Largest NENA i3-Compliant NG 9-1-1 Systems in the U.S.
ANNAPOLIS, MD--(Marketwire - Dec 13, 2011) - TeleCommunication Systems, Inc. (TCS) (
NCTCOG's emergency services network will comply fully with the National Emergency Number Association's (NENA) i3 standards. The TCS NENA i3-based solution includes components that will enable area PSAPs to support future emergency requests. This solution is expected to be one of the largest NENA i3-compliant Next Generation 9-1-1 systems, as measured by population, in the United States.
"With a diverse region ranging from the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex to counties with a sparse, rural population, we needed the ability to have NG9-1-1 systems and services that could be easily adaptable to various existing systems, while still complying with NENA's i3 standards," said Christy Williams, NCTCOG 9-1-1 program manager. "TCS' NG9-1-1 systems and services not only accomplish that in an efficient and cost-effective manner; they also provide us with the ability to keep up with changing and emerging technologies."
"NCTCOG is keenly aware of the need to stay on top of rapidly evolving telecommunications technology in order to provide their citizens with highly reliable NG9-1-1 systems and services," said Chris Nabinger, senior vice president of safety and security for TCS. "TCS' NG9-1-1 solution provides them with the flexibility and range of features they require in order to accomplish these goals. This award expands the growing TCS NG9-1-1 footprint and demonstrates that the PSAP community acknowledges our expertise in messaging, location, cybersecurity and public safety as solid foundations for delivering mission-critical NG9-1-1 services."
The TCS NG9-1-1 solution offers public safety providers options to increase control over the system, bypass costly legacy architecture and deploy the solution as systems, services or a mix of the two within any existing IP network.
