NEW YORK--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--Today, in New York, Planar Systems, Inc., (NASDAQ:PLNR) a world leader in specialty display solutions, announced their support for BOFFO Building Fashion. Working with creative director and global fashion visionary Nicola Formichetti, in partnership with [ Gage/Clemenceau Architects ] in New York, on a thought-leading retail installation featuring a variety of Planar display products. This partnership was envisioned by [ BOFFO ], as part of their annual BOFFO [ Building Fashion exhibition ].

The retail concept showroom and event space is located at Karkulaa™s 50 Walker Street in Tribeca. It explores the intersection of architecture and fashion by pairing fashion designers and architects to build temporary installations. The opening date of the two-month running fashion concept series is September 8, 2011, with press previews invitation only opening events. Creative director of the French fashion house Mugler, Nicola Formichetti, was selected as the first in the series and paired with Gage/Clemenceau Architects to create Formichettia™s new retail and display environment. From the beginning, Planar worked with these visionary designers to utilize cutting-edge display technology in their designs. The environment will house the new work of Formichetti, as well as some of his previous projects.

The installation features several unique Planar products including the line of bezel-free, [ open-frame monitors ] used in architectural applications and embedded applications, like kiosks and [ large format LCD displays ] designed to complement any retail shop, education environment, public space, hotel or restaurant. These displays work seamlessly into the design that was envisioned for the space.
