SILICON VALLEY, CA--(Marketwire - December 9, 2009) - [ Proxim Wireless Corporation ] (OTCQX: [ PRXM ]) (PINKSHEETS: [ PRXM ]), a leading provider of end-to-end broadband wireless systems that deliver the quadruple play, today announced that its Tsunami™ 8100 wireless backhaul and point-to-multipoint products -- introduced in mid-July -- have achieved significant traction in the market. The acceptance is so significant that sales of these products are expected to exceed $1 million in Q409.

Proxim believes this immediate adoption by the marketplace is the result of several key benefits of the Tsunami 8100 products:

-- Proxim's use of MIMO and OFDM technology to provide NLOS capabilities while maintaining higher performance -- Better price/performance than competitive products -- Greater ease of use and deployment for quicker deployment times -- Ability to deliver connection speeds exceeding 200Mbps -- true 4G connectivity

For an example of the Tsunami 8100 products in action, please see the press release titled "Engineering Firm Selects Proxim's New High-Performance Wireless Backhaul Gear to Connect Buildings and Increase Network Capacity," also released today, in [ Proxim's Press Room ].

The Tsunami 8100's ability to economically provide over 200 Mbps real-world performance and Non-Line-of-Sight (NLOS) operation with MIMO and OFDM technology has made it an instant hit with WISPs, government agencies, municipalities, schools and more. In addition, with pricing for the QB-8150 point-to-point products starting at just $2,499 and pricing for the MP-8100 point-to-multipoint products starting at just $999, Proxim provides better price/performance ratios than competing products.

"The MP-8100 is a large step forward in the delivery of low-cost, high-capacity radios. Proxim is clearly displaying their ability to develop new technology and future-proof platforms to allow Wireless ISPs to compete with advances in DSL and ADSL," said Daniel McFadden, IT Manager of North West Electronics.

The Tsunami 8100 products are not only interoperable with Proxim's existing products, but they maintain the same look and feel with greater ease of deployment than competing products. This has made them popular with VARs who are familiar with Proxim products, and introduces significant revenue-generating upgrade opportunities for VARs who have customers looking to upgrade from their existing Proxim MP.11 products.

"Having been associated with Proxim and its portfolio of products since the late 1990s, I can say that they have yet again demonstrated leading edge thinking, this time in the field of single cell architectures. We look forward to the continuing successful project deliveries with this product," said Neil Metcalfe, CEO of Networks by Wireless, Ltd.

"When we introduced the Tsunami 8100 products in July, we knew we were on to something," said Pankaj Manglik, President and CEO of Proxim Wireless. "These products are the result of a great deal of customer feedback and testing, resulting in a product ideally suited for cost-effectively deploying wireless broadband networks that can handle the explosion of high-bandwidth applications like video. As a result, WISPs, video surveillance and security integrators, carriers and other organizations looking for high-bandwidth wireless networks are increasingly turning to the Tsunami 8100 solutions -- and we look forward to expanding upon the success of these products in 2010."

Applications

The combination of the high performance, ease of operation/deployment, and the attractive price point of the Tsunami 8100 products have made them an ideal, cost-effective solution for:

-- [ Wireless video surveillance ]

-- [ Rural broadband ]

-- Building-to-building connectivity

-- Wireless backhaul for cellular voice and data

-- Wireless backhaul for Wi-Fi networks for 3G offload
