Mediware Information Systems: Mediware Signs Contract With Nation's Third Largest Independent Blood Center

LENEXA, KS--(Marketwire - February 26, 2009) - [ Mediware Information Systems ] (NASDAQ: [ MEDW ]) announced today that The [ Institute for Transfusion Medicine ](SM) (ITxM(SM)), the nation's third largest independent blood center through its LifeSource and Central Blood Bank business units, has licensed four of Mediware's Blood Center Technologies (BCT) software products for its recruitment efforts in Illinois, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Under the contract, ITxM facilities will utilize Mediware's Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software to enhance recruitment and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of blood collection initiatives.

"Our two blood centers, Pittsburgh-based Central Blood Bank and LifeSource, Chicagoland's Blood Center, annually distribute nearly one million blood products to 100 health care facilities in four states," said Eric Schulties, ITxM vice president and chief information officer. [ Central Blood Bank ] services more than 40 area hospitals in western Pennsylvania, eastern Ohio, and West Virginia. Last year, the blood center collected approximately 160,000 units of blood through its 27 community donor centers and more than 200 mobile blood drives a month. [ LifeSource Donor Center ] services approximately 60 hospitals in Illinois. The blood center collected more than 250,000 units of blood last year through its 25 donor centers and more than 200 mobile blood drives a month.
