iBasis Names New Vice President of Sales for European Region

BURLINGTON, Mass.--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--iBasis (NASDAQ: IBAS), a KPN affiliate, today announced that Sietse Lettinga has been named vice president of Sales, Europe. Lettinga brings to iBasis nearly two decades of experience as a senior sales executive at some of the largest telecommunications carriers in Europe, including KPN Telecom, Romtelecom and Czech Telecom.

Lettinga possesses formidable telecom sales and marketing expertise and is experienced in network operations and change management for domestic and international carriers in both wholesale and retail markets. Prior to iBasis, he was Director of Carrier Services for Romtelecom, the largest telecommunications company in Romania. In this capacity he tripled the carrier's wholesale revenues in just three years. He also transformed Romtelecom's wholesale department into the preferred carrier for Romania and the Balkans and created an international network enabling it to become the largest IP hub and capacity operator of the Balkans. Lettinga has also held senior management posts at Czech Telecom, KPN Telecom and Eircom/Telecom Eireann.
