  • After the first successful commercial moon landing, Firefly Aerospace's Blue Ghost completed its first mission two weeks in.

Firefly Aerospace's Blue Ghost lunar lander has successfully completed a rigorous two-week mission simulation, marking a significant milestone in its development. The test, conducted at NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama, involved a full-scale model of the lander undergoing a series of tests to simulate the harsh conditions of space and lunar landing. These tests included thermal vacuum exposure, vibration, and shock tests to ensure the lander can withstand the extreme temperatures, radiation, and physical stresses of space travel and lunar operations. The Blue Ghost lander is designed to deliver payloads to the Moon's surface, supporting NASA's Artemis program and other commercial lunar exploration efforts. This successful simulation brings Firefly Aerospace closer to its goal of achieving a commercial lunar landing, with plans to launch the Blue Ghost in 2024.
