The Port of Tyne hosted female students from Benfield School, Newcastle, as part of an initiative to encourage women in STEM careers.
The Port of Tyne has launched an initiative aimed at encouraging female students to pursue careers in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields. This event, part of the International Day for Women and Girls in Science, welcomed over 100 female students from local schools to explore various STEM-related activities and career opportunities. The initiative seeks to address the gender disparity in STEM industries by providing young women with role models, insights into potential career paths, and practical experience, thereby inspiring them to consider and pursue STEM careers. The event highlighted the diverse roles available at the port, from engineering to environmental science, showcasing the breadth of opportunities within the sector.
