Two students killed as truck loses control, rams into tricycles in Kogi

On December 13, 2024, a tragic accident occurred in Kogi State, Nigeria, when a truck lost control and rammed into multiple tricycles, resulting in the death of two students from Kogi State Polytechnic. The incident took place along the Lokoja-Abuja highway, causing significant disruption and grief. According to eyewitnesses, the truck was speeding when it veered off its lane, crashing into the tricycles carrying students. Emergency services responded promptly, but the two students were pronounced dead at the scene. Several others sustained injuries and were rushed to nearby hospitals. The police have begun an investigation into the cause of the accident, focusing on the truck driver's speed and possible mechanical failure. This incident has raised concerns about road safety and the enforcement of traffic regulations in the region.
