  • Urban Teen received more than $800,000 in funding to introduce more youth across Southwest Washington and Oregon to careers in the manufacturing field.

The Vancouver nonprofit iUrban Teen has been awarded over $800,000 in grants to enhance manufacturing career pathways for youth. This funding, which includes a $750,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Labor and an additional $50,000 from the Oregon Community Foundation, aims to support the organization's efforts in providing hands-on learning experiences, career exploration, and job training in advanced manufacturing. The initiative targets underrepresented youth, offering them opportunities to engage with industry professionals, participate in paid internships, and gain skills necessary for high-demand manufacturing jobs. This investment is part of a broader effort to address workforce shortages in the manufacturing sector by preparing young people for well-paying careers.
