Actor Tony Leung receives honorary doctorate from Hong Kong university
- Tony Leung is now Dr Tony Leung. This was after the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) awarded the legendary Hong Kong actor an honorary doctorate in humanities on Nov. 23. Leung's wife, Carina Lau, posted numerous photos of Leung in a red gown and cap on her Instagram, with the caption, "Congratulations."
Tony Leung Chiu-wai, a renowned Hong Kong actor, was conferred an honorary doctorate by the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) on November 11, 2024. The ceremony took place at the Academy's 35th Congregation, where Leung was recognized for his significant contributions to the film industry over his 40-year career. HKAPA President, Mr. Louis Page, praised Leung for his exceptional talent, dedication, and his role in elevating Hong Kong cinema globally. Leung, known for his versatile roles and collaborations with directors like Wong Kar-wai, expressed his gratitude and humility upon receiving the honor, reflecting on his journey from a young actor to an influential figure in cinema. He encouraged the graduates to pursue their artistic passions with perseverance and integrity.
