(NASDAQ: [ PKT ]), the global network intelligence company, today announced that it has received a multi-million dollar follow-on order from a Top Ten North American MSO. This order includes multiple [ PacketLogic™ ] PL8000 series systems to expand the existing deployment for network intelligence purposes. The operator is deploying these systems initially for a Big Data project, using Procera as the key provider of contextual network intelligence to deliver higher quality data input to its big data systems for improved results.

Big Data can be used to deliver actionable information on user behavior to Telecom companies and MSOs for improved network performance, planning, CAPEX, management, and to offer new differentiated services based on existing consumer behavior. According to TechNavio's analysts, the Global Big Data market in the Telecom sector is forecast to grow at a CAGR of 55 percent over the period 2011-2015, and has also been witnessing the growth of user-friendly predictive modeling.

Procera's Intelligent Policy Enforcement (IPE) solutions deliver highly granular and unique levels of visibility into network traffic, providing superior data to the Big Data systems in this deployment, thereby enabling better results. The data includes subscriber information, applications, service plans, traffic volume, device information, as well as other application-specific information that IPE systems can provide. This high volume data is sent to Big Data systems that display the information as part of the overall presentation layer for the network.
