Fredericksburg, Staunton, Waynesboro, Harrisonburg and Martinsville Included in 28 Additional, New Markets
LAUREL, Md., May 15, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Verizon Wireless will bring its 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network to 28 new markets, including Fredericksburg, Staunton, Waynesboro, Harrisonburg and Martinsville, Virginia, starting Thursday, May 17, enabling customers to take advantage of the nation's largest 4G LTE network. With the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network, customers can enjoy the best experience in wireless data usage when they stream video, share music and photos, download files and surf the Web with speeds up to 10 times faster than before.
When these new markets launch on May 17, 4G LTE coverage will include:
- Fredericksburg, and the majority of Stafford County, the northern part of Spotsylvania County, and communities located near Interstate 95, including Dale City, Aquia Harbour, Quantico Station, Dumfries, Dodds Corner, White Oak, Eagle Village and Paynes Corner.
- Staunton, Waynesboro and Harrisonburg, and up the Interstate 81 corridor from Roanoke, bringing coverage to Augusta and Rockingham Counties, including the towns of Timberville, Broadway, Elkton and Mount Crawford.
- Martinsville, and the majority of Henry County, bringing service to areas Route 220, Route 57, and Route 58 and the communities of Oak Level, Basset Stanleytown, Ridgeway and Horse Pasture.
In addition to introducing its 4G LTE network in 28 new markets, including those listed above, Verizon Wireless is expanding the network in 11 markets across the United States on May 17. With the new and expanded markets, the company's 4G LTE network will be available in 258 markets, to more than two-thirds of the U.S. population.

4G LTE Coverage and Speed
In real-world, fully loaded network environments, Verizon Wireless 4G LTE customers should experience average data rates of 5 to 12 megabits per second (Mbps) on the downlink and 2 to 5 Mbps on the uplink.
