JAB Broadband Selects DragonWave's Horizon Quantum to Significantly Expand the WISP's Network Capacity in Seven States

JAB Broadband to Purchase an Additional 200 DragonWave Horizon Links as a Cornerstone Strategy to Meet a Surge of New Customers and Growing Demand for High Speed Service

OTTAWA, CANADA--(Marketwire - Feb. 14, 2012) - New innovative technologies have made Wireless Internet Service Providers (WISPs) a competitive solution for residents and businesses looking for reliable, high-speed Internet services. DragonWave Inc., (TSX:DWI)(NASDAQ:DRWI) a leading global supplier of packet microwave radios and JAB Broadband, a top-tier WISP with a notable track record of growth, today announced the purchase of an additional mix of 200 DragonWave Horizon links to support JAB's aggressive network upgrade initiatives currently underway.

Since 2005, DragonWave and JAB Broadband's business relationship has continually evolved as the WISP pursued an active expansion plan that saw hundreds of DragonWave links deployed in its network. Explaining its decision to base its current upgrade program on the Horizon products, JAB asserts that DragonWave provides the most innovative, reliable and advanced platforms that perform as promised, also noting they are the most capable of leveraging new emergent technologies.

"We've rigorously tested a range of licensed wireless backhaul solutions and DragonWave has consistently come out on top," said Bret Westwood, Vice President of Network Operations for JAB Broadband. "Using DragonWave's innovative Quantum links, we can dramatically increase our capacity at the tower while leveraging the product's dual-link capabilities to greatly reduce our tower rents and capital costs. The Quantum's graceful upgrade path, high capacity, and cost advantages are critical to our current effort to upgrade our entire network. With dramatic increases in customer usage, we need to be prepared for the future and DragonWave is key to that end.

DragonWave's Horizon line of packet microwave systems delivers the highest levels of spectral efficiency and reliability for carrier-grade delivery of advanced applications and services. An uncompromised product design delivers pure packet microwave performance with software-scalable, ultra-low latency transport of up to 4 Gbps per link. Extremely easy to deploy and manage, DragonWave products deliver carrier-grade (99.999% availability) interference-free performance in next-generation IP networks.

"Over the past few years, there has been continued accelerated end-user demand for higher speed Internet, driven by video streaming, gaming and other Internet applications," said Peter Allen, President and CEO, DragonWave. "While some view this as a challenge, we're encouraged by innovative service providers like JAB Broadband who are seizing the opportunity to utilize DragonWave products to greatly improve their WISP services, grow their business and future-proof their networks to stay ahead of the anticipated continued demand for even greater bandwidth delivery."
