CIBER Selected for "Operation Shield" City of Atlanta Physical Security Information Management System
GREENWOOD VILLAGE, Colo., Dec. 15, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- CIBER, Inc. has been awarded a contract to provide the Atlanta Police Foundation and the Atlanta Police Department a Physical Security Information Management (PSIM) solution for public-private unified video surveillance integration. The project, also known as "Operation Shield," will enhance law enforcement efforts to provide safer streets for residents, visitors and businesses in the City of Atlanta.

In the project's initial phase, CIBER, working with Motorola Solutions, is providing its advanced PSIM solution, CIBERSecure™. CIBERSecure will be able to integrate hundreds of disparate video surveillance systems currently in operation and planned around the Atlanta downtown and mid-town areas into a single Command and Control display in the city E911 center.
"Public safety has been a top priority for my administration, and the Video Integration Center is a vital investment toward a safer city," said Mayor Kasim Reed. "We must continue to seek innovative ways to fight crime, and bringing together the public and private sectors allows us to share in the responsibility of keeping our streets safe for residents, workers, tourists, and visitors alike."
"CIBER is very proud to have been selected to support Operation Shield," said Dr. Ronald Smith, general manager of CIBER Federal. "We look forward to working closely with the City of Atlanta, Motorola and all the stakeholders of this public safety effort."
Erin Phelps, vice president of CIBER's Enterprise Security Solutions, added, "CIBER understands that protecting the public and public property is becoming an increasingly more difficult job for municipal governments. Although video surveillance has become a very useful, flexible and cost-effective tool, the reality is that most public and private entities all have different security systems and video surveillance technologies in operation and therefore, the systems are not able to be shared. CIBER has solved this dilemma with CIBERSecure. CIBERSecure will be deployed for Operation Shield to integrate multiple, disparate systems into a single, unified command and control platform to provide real-time situational awareness and allow law enforcement to more quickly assess a situation before deploying the appropriate resources."
