Mesh Licensing Introduced at Wireless Sensor Networks Conference

Cubic to Offer mistTM Licensing and Modules for Evaluation

VIENNA, VA--(Marketwire - Nov 1, 2011) - [ Cubic Global Tracking Solutions ], the asset tracking and monitoring division of Cubic Corporation (NYSE: [ CUB ]), is announcing the availability of its mesh technology, called mist™, for licensing purposes. As an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), Cubic Global Tracking Solutions will also produce a module to accompany the mist™ license, so that other companies can evaluate for incorporation into their own product lines to bring a more robust solution to their customers and end-users.

Bringing the module and mist™ licensing to market follows a successful test Cubic Global Tracking Solutions recently conducted. The test involved 6,500 [ mesh asset tags ] that were on hand at the San Diego facility en-route to Camp Arifjan, Kuwait, where the tags will be used for yard management of military vehicles. Cubic Global Tracking Solutions engineers utilized those devices to successfully form a network of 6,500 nodes, which is the largest IEEE 802.15.4 PHY based mesh network ever formed. Cubic's mist™ mesh network is dynamic, self-forming, ad-hoc and uses ultra low power devices that can be both end sensor nodes and routing nodes simultaneously.

To launch the licensing of the mesh technology, executives and staff from Cubic Global Tracking Solutions will be on hand at the [ Wireless Sensor Networks Conference ] in Boston, Massachusetts, from November 14 - 16. At the upcoming conference, Cubic's Paul Berenberg, Director of Firmware Engineering, is speaking on mist™ mesh networks in logistics applications. Additionally, Cubic Global Tracking Solutions has been nominated for the Best Application of Wireless Sensor Network award. This prestigious award recognizes outstanding achievements in the development and application of advanced wireless network technologies.

"We are honored to be nominated for the Best Application of Wireless Sensor Network award. I am fortunate to have such a talented team of individuals that can develop these innovative advanced technologies for Cubic Global Tracking Solutions to bring to the marketplace. With the new focus on licensing our mist™ mesh technology, we are not only providing solutions directly to our customers, but also providing the industry with an advanced technology that will bring cost-effective sensor and logistics intelligence solutions to those that have a need to reliably pass secure data in large ad-hoc environments with limited infrastructure requirements," said Mary Ann Wagner, President of Cubic Global Tracking Solutions.
