The Orlando Police Department has transformed its headquarters into a STEM Factory, focusing on fostering innovation in science, technology, engineering, and math. This initiative, led by Chief Eric Smith, aims to engage the community, particularly youth, in STEM education through interactive experiences. The headquarters now features a crime lab, a 911 call center, and a virtual reality room where visitors can simulate police scenarios. The goal is to not only educate but also to inspire future generations to pursue careers in STEM fields, potentially within law enforcement, by providing hands-on learning opportunities and showcasing the technological advancements used in modern policing.
