LONDON--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--Travelzoo (NASDAQ: TZOO), a global Internet media company, today announced that over 70% of its 2 million subscribers across the UK are planning to take a short break, winter-ski or -sun holiday within the next twelve weeks, according to its recent online survey*. Of those who said they plan to travel, 65% have yet to book their trip but intend to do so in the coming weeks.
"Winter travel demand suffered tremendously during the economic uncertainty of the last few years. Confidence now seems to be improving and intent for winter travel among our subscribers is at its strongest for some time. This is good news for our advertisers and the UK travel industry as a whole."
These results indicate a continued trend in higher-than-expected holiday spending by Travelzoo subscribers this year. When asked in November 2009, only 23% of Travelzooa™s UK subscribers said they expected to spend over 999 per person on 2010 leisure travel. But as of October 2010, as many as 70% of Travelzoo subscribers said they had actually spent more than 999 per person on their holidays.
