ARLINGTON, TEXAS--(Marketwire - Dec. 18, 2009) - Pethealth Inc. ("Pethealth" or the "Company") (TSX:PTZ) announced that Jorge Ortega, the Regional Director of Shelter Outreach for the State of Texas for Pethealth Inc., has been onsite assisting with the removal of 26,411 exotic animals with three PetPoint animal welfare organizations: SPCA of Texas, Humane Society of North Texas and Arlington Animal Services. A team arrived at the location Tuesday morning and worked through until the early hours of Wednesday morning. Up to 50 animal welfare employees assisted in the seizure along with seven veterinarians who specialize in exotic animals from various parts of the country.

Since the seizure, staff from the SPCA of Texas has been working around the clock to enter over 26,000 exotic animals into the PetPoint Animal Management system. The data compiled in PetPoint will be used to assist the investigation.

"This is an incident that has really tested the commitment of those working in animal welfare organizations in the greater Dallas area. I am delighted all the organizations that have been involved have risen to the challenge and have shown remarkable strength and stamina in the face of adversity. We are delighted to make a small contribution to the effort and are prepared to assist as needed to ensure all these animals are properly housed and cared for," said Mark Warren, President and CEO of Pethealth Inc.

"PetPoint deployed a staff person to the scene whose assistance was very helpful," added Ann Barnes, Senior Vice President of Operations for the SPCA of Texas. "PetPoint assisted us by inputting all 26,411 animals into their shelter management system so that we could keep the most accurate count of the animals. This is something that would have been impossible for our staff to accomplish in the absence of PetPoint."

"PetPoint has been a valued partner for years, and never more instrumental in helping us provide every animal exceptional care than this past week," said James Bias, President of the SPCA of Texas.

"I'm proud to be a part of the Pethealth team and continue to be impressed with how we support our animal welfare partners through difficult times such as these," said Jorge Ortega, Regional Director of Shelter Outreach.

In 2009, PetPoint facilitated 1,787,854 intakes and over 651,155 adoptions. With over 1,300 licensed PetPoint users in the Shelter channel across North America, Pethealth continues to provide support to shelters and animal rescue groups in times of crisis such as these.
