China launches ChinaSat-10R communications satellite from Xichang
- China launched a new communications satellite into geosynchronous transfer orbit Saturday to replace the aging ChinaSat-10 spacecraft. A Long March 3B rocket lifted off at 7:11 a.m.
On July 10, 2023, China successfully launched the ChinaSat-10R communications satellite into a geosynchronous transfer orbit using a Long March 3B rocket from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center. The satellite, built by the China Academy of Space Technology, is designed to provide high-throughput communications services, including broadband internet access, over China and neighboring regions. It features a payload with a Ka-band multi-beam antenna and a laser communication terminal, enhancing its capabilities for high-speed data transmission. This launch marks another step in China's ongoing efforts to expand its satellite communications infrastructure.
