Intuitive Machines' IM-2 Athena lander ended up on its side on the moon, forcing a premature end to a mission packed with rovers and NASA science.
The Intuitive Machines' lunar lander, Odysseus, successfully touched down on the Moon but encountered issues with its orientation, landing on its side. This mishap has compromised the mission's objectives, as the lander's antennas are now misaligned, hindering communication with Earth. Despite this, the lander did manage to send back some data and images before the mission was effectively concluded. The landing was part of NASA's Commercial Lunar Payload Services (CLPS) program, aimed at fostering commercial space exploration.
