MicroStrategy Global Brand Ambassador Patrick Cantlay Wins First Professional Golf Tournament -- TYSONS CORNER, Va., March 4, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --

TYSONS CORNER, Va., March 4, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- MicroStrategy® Incorporated (Nasdaq: [ MSTR ]), a leading worldwide provider of business intelligence (BI) and mobile software, is proud to announce that MicroStrategy Global Brand Ambassador Patrick Cantlay won his first tournament as a professional yesterday. Cantlay won the Colombia Championship, held annually at Country Club de Bogota in Bogota, Colombia, becoming the second-youngest winner in Web.com Tour history.

The 20 year-old Cantlay sealed his first professional victory with a tournament record total score of 18-under par 266, carding four birdies and an eagle in the final round to top his nearest competitor by 4 strokes. With four rounds in the 60s, highlighted by a 6-under par round of 65 on Saturday and a 5-under par 66 on Sunday, Cantlay turned in his best weekend as a professional. Less than 10 months after turning professional, Cantlay has his first win in only his 17th start as a professional.

With this victory, Cantlay jumps to #1 on the Web.com Tour money list for 2013 and is in great position for the rest of the year. He continued his hot start to the 2013 season after claiming his first ever Top 10 finish as a professional on the PGA Tour just a few weeks ago at the AT&T National Pro-Am at the famed Pebble Beach course. Cantlay continues to build on the legacy he established by completing one of the most successful amateur careers in history last year.

This week, Cantlay will be playing in the PGA Tour's Puerto Rico Open, held at the Trump International Golf Course in Puerto Rico.

"We are excited and proud to be part of the team for Patrick's first professional win," said Jonathan F. Klein , President of MicroStrategy. "Patrick has been a great Global Brand Ambassador for MicroStrategy and we're confident that this will be the first of many victories for Patrick. We look forward to Patrick's continued success on Tour."

About Patrick Cantlay

After completing one of the most prolific and decorated careers in amateur golf history, Patrick Cantlay joined the professional ranks in the summer of 2012. A native of Southern California, Patrick competed for the UCLA Bruins for two years prior to turning pro. Ranked as the world's No. 1 amateur for a record 55 weeks, Patrick received numerous accolades, including the Haskins Award, honoring the most outstanding college golfer, the Jack Nicklaus Award, given to the NCAA Division-I Player of the Year, the Mark H McCormack Medal, awarded to the season's top-ranked amateur, and the Ben Hogan Award, given to the player with the most outstanding collegiate and amateur record. Before turning pro, Patrick already had enjoyed considerable success on the PGA Tour, where he made the cut in each of his first five starts as an amateur, including a top 10 finish at the 2011 RBC Canadian Open and four top-25 finishes. Patrick made history in the second round of the Travelers Championship by shooting 60, the lowest round ever posted by an amateur in a PGA Tour event. He also has the distinction of finishing as the low amateur in the 2011 US Open and the 2012 Masters Tournament. In his 2012 professional season debut, Patrick made 6 cuts in the 7 PGA Tournaments he played. He also played in 4 Web.com Tour events and had two Top 5 finishes, including a playoff appearance and a T-2 at the Chiquita Classic in September.
