DAYTON, Ohio, Sept. 19, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Verizon Wireless today announced that customers in the Dayton/Springfield area will have access to its 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network in more places when the company expands its 4G LTE network on Sept. 20 in Xenia, Urbana, Greenville and Sidney. The Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network covers more than 75 percent of the U.S. population and has more coverage than all other U.S. wireless providers combined. Verizon Wireless has announced its intention to provide 4G LTE coverage in 400 markets across the United States before the end of 2012.

Verizon Wireless first launched its 4G LTE network in Dayton and Springfield in June 2011, and included the communities of Trotwood, Englewood, Centerville and Beavercreek.

In addition to expanding its 4G LTE network in the area, Verizon Wireless is also expanding and introducing the network in Marion County, Ohio, on Sept. 20.

4G LTE Coverage and Speed
In real-world, fully loaded network environments, Verizon Wireless 4G LTE customers should experience average data rates of 5 to 12 megabits per second (Mbps) on the downlink and 2 to 5 Mbps on the uplink.

When customers travel outside of a 4G LTE coverage area, 4G LTE devices automatically connect to Verizon Wireless' 3G network, enabling customers to stay connected from coast to coast.
