New GeekLabs Program Hand Picks Only the Ripest of Brain Fruit

FAIRFAX, Va., Aug. 7, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- ThinkGeek's (Nasdaq: [ GKNT ]) covert R&D Branch, GeekLabs, has recently announced its latest plan for world domination: the IdeaFactory, a program for inventors to make use of ThinkGeek's proven product creation process.

The concept is simple; ThinkGeek wants to give makers, inventors, and designers the chance to see their ideas brought to life.   This is open to any and all ideas that would be a great fit for ThinkGeek's particular brand of awesome.

The IdeaFactory is a crucible of fire and flame where the best ideas are forged and refined.  Once there, then ThinkGeek produces, markets, and sells the final product.  Should an idea emerge victorious, the submitter receives a cash advance of $1,000 and 10% of retail sales for the life of the product.  Submitters also retain the rights to sell their product on their own site or at cons, tradeshows, and other public events.

"We always want to bring as much awesome to the world as we can," stated Ty Liotta, Mastermind of GeekLabs.  "One of the ways to do that is make this process as easy as possible."

Unlike other idea submission sites, the IdeaFactory at ThinkGeek doesn't require a video or other upfront costs.  Users simply provide some information, including a description of their idea and a picture or rendering, and that's it.  All of the promotion, marketing and heavy lifting is left to ThinkGeek, a company with a 13-year history of bringing awesome to the smart masses.
