CARLSBAD, Calif., April 12, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Broadcast journalists now have a new way to capture, edit, and deliver full HD stories from the field that is more affordable than traditional satellite services and reaches beyond the boundaries of microwave. Exede(SM) Newsgathering is a first-of-its-kind service based on the transformational new satellite system created by ViaSat Inc. (NASDAQ: VSAT). Terminals can either be vehicle-mounted or transported in a luggage-sized carrying case. The service is available in the U.S. now on a select basis with general availability by the end of this year.

Bandwidth capacity "depth" reduces the need to compete for limited bandwidth with other on-scene reporters, unlike the limited, thin layer of coverage provided by microwave and other technologies

Teams can capture breaking news and build stories in metropolitan areas, at remote sites, or even in the event of a natural disaster when there is no electricity, cell connections, or vehicle access:
