Numerex Organizes International M2M Event Hosted by the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) on September 20-21, 2011 at Georgia Tech
ATLANTA, Aug. 18, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Numerex (NASDAQ: [ NMRX ]) a leading single source provider of secure machine-to-machine (M2M) products and services, today announced theforthcoming international meeting of the Global Standards Collaboration [ Machine-to-Machine ] (M2M) Standardization Task force [ (GSC MSTF) ], which will be held on September 20-21, 2011, in Atlanta, Georgia. This meeting, organized by [ Numerex ] in collaboration with the Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI), is hosted by the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA). Participants will be coming from North America, South America, Europe, Asia and Africa. The theme of the meeting is "M2M Standards as Growth Enablers".
Created last year in Beijing at the Global Standards Collaboration (GSC)-15, a forum centered on the International Telecommunication Union, an agency of the United Nations, the GSC MSTF was tasked with facilitating global coordination and harmonization in the area of M2M standardization. Numerex's CTO, Dr. Jeffrey O. Smith, was appointed convener of the GSC MSTF at the Beijing meeting.
The Atlanta event is broken down in two parts. The first day takes the form of a conference at the GTRI auditorium where experts from a wide range of industries will present their views on the impact of M2M standards on their vertical markets. The second day will feature a roundtable at the Georgia Tech Technology Square Research building focused on summarizing the findings of the GSC MSTF meetings, and drafting suggestions and recommendations regarding the direction of global M2M standardization. Both the conference and roundtable are free of charge.
"Numerex is honored to have been chosen to organize this important event in the global M2M arena, which will feature international Standards Development Organizations, various standards alliances focusing on specific vertical markets, and companies that are leaders in their field. The effective collaboration with TIA and Georgia Tech, in particular GTRI's Information and Communications Laboratory has contributed to make this premier international M2M gathering a required stop for any M2M player interested in keeping current with the latest M2M developments," said Stratton J. Nicolaides, Chairman and CEO of Numerex. "TIA's leadership in M2M provides the right momentum in the M2M standards world at a critical time for the whole industry, which is rapidly expanding and searching for new frameworks."
While the conference should be of interest to anyone wanting to learn about general M2M capabilities, the roundtable will appeal to individuals having a direct involvement in M2M standards.
