WALTHAM, MA and ORLANDO, FL--(Marketwire - May 18, 2010) - Unica Marketing Innovation Summit -- [ Unica Corporation ] (NASDAQ: [ UNCA ]), the recognized leader in [ marketing software ] solutions, today announced an alliance with [ Mobile Messenger, ] a leading provider of end-to-end mobile solutions. The alliance enables clients to tap the joint Unica/Mobile Messenger platform to create a variety of integrated mobile campaigns ranging from simple text alerts to more complex interactive programs as part of their [ cross-channel marketing ] strategies.

Data from CTIA-The Wireless Association shows that 1.5 trillion SMS messages were sent in 2009 -- up from just over one trillion in 2008, amounting to nearly five million messages per day by the end of the year. Not surprisingly, marketers are following consumers into the mobile channel; according to Unica's recent global survey, "[ The State of Marketing 2010 ]," more than one third of marketers already have incorporated some aspect of mobile into their marketing strategies. Through their alliance, Unica and Mobile Messenger aim to increase that statistic by introducing Unica's clients to the powerful marketing potential of the mobile channel.

Mobile Messenger will extend its proven, robust technology capabilities including short code provisioning, mobile aggregation, and carrier relations to Unica's clients, who then gain access to seamless program planning, execution, and measurement from within Unica's existing applications. The joint solution complements Unica's existing mobile capabilities for delivery and [ preview rendering ] of mobile email with Unica eMessage, tracking of mobile web sites and applications with Unica NetInsight, and serving of personalized offers via mobile web sites and applications with Unica Interact.

"Every day, more marketers are waking up to the unparalleled potential of the mobile channel. Already paired with a marketing management specialist, Unica's clients are in a prime position to take advantage of the burgeoning medium," said Michael Iaccarino, president and CEO, Mobile Messenger. "The company has a well-earned reputation for marketing innovation and we're excited to partner with them and provide a mobile channel extension to their platform capabilities."

"This relationship allows us to further extend our platform and mobile capabilities into the delivery of mobile messages, providing our clients with flexible new ways to engage customers on-the-go using applications with which they are already familiar," said Jay Henderson, director of product marketing, Unica. "Mobile Messenger's advanced technology, trusted carrier relationships, and mobile marketing expertise will enhance our solutions, and we're excited about this alliance."
