SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - May 10, 2010) - [ Riverbed Technology ] (NASDAQ: [ RVBD ]), the IT performance company, today announced its upcoming participation at [ EMC World Boston 2010 ], taking place May 10-13 at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center. In addition to visiting the Riverbed® booth (#120), attendees can learn about the role of [ wide area network (WAN) optimization ] in [ EMC® ] replication environments.

Enterprises leverage Riverbed WAN optimization to improve remote and mobile employee productivity, enable private clouds and provide enterprise-wide network and application visibility. By speeding the performance of applications, in some cases by up to 100 times, Riverbed [ Steelhead® ]products also enable companies to improve backup and replication processes to ensure data integrity. Many enterprises have deployed Riverbed Steelhead appliances to accelerate [ disaster recovery ] (DR) initiatives, as replication has emerged as a preferred choice for more frequent and seamless protection of storage between data centers.

Working in conjunction with EMC, Riverbed has obtained EMC qualification for its Steelhead appliances to work with EMC SRDF®/A (Symmetrix Remote Data Facility/Asynchronous). With EMC E-Lab qualification, joint customers can deploy Riverbed WAN optimization solutions into their largest data centers while dramatically reducing bandwidth requirements associated with protecting more data. Steelhead appliances have also obtained EMC E-Lab qualification for MirrorView/A, Celerra Replicator, SAN Copy, DMX and V-Max.

During EMC World, attendees can stop by the booth during exhibit hours, come to the "Baseball Hall of Fame" reception or hear from Riverbed's Nik Rouda at the Pavilion Theatre or the EMC Select booth to learn more about how Riverbed solutions can help EMC replication environments.

Riverbed Drives Discussions on Improving Performance in EMC Replication Environments:

What:"When Disaster Strikes: The Role of WAN Optimization in EMC Replication Environments"
Who:Nik Rouda, director of product marketing, Riverbed
When/Where:Wednesday, May 12: 10:45 am @ Pavilion Theatre
Wednesday, May 12: 1:00 pm @ EMC Select Booth (#126)
Why:EMC replication technologies such as SRDF/A, MirrorView/A, and Celerra Replicator provide long distance disaster recovery solutions to protect the most vital informational assets in enterprises. Riverbed provides a solution to minimize WAN bandwidth utilization in order to maintain the high end-to-end throughput requirements and stringent RPO/RTO targets in these environments. This enables organizations to protect such assets to ensure that data is protected and business is never interrupted. In these sessions, attendees can learn how Riverbed can help you reduce bandwidth requirements, improve performance for SRDF/A over the WAN while still reducing total cost of ownership (TCO).
