School trips should be to science institutes instead of beaches: Goa Chief Minister

Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that such trips would inspire students and spark a great interest in science and technology in them. He said that exposing students to such environments will also nuture their skills and interests in these crucial fields.
Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has advocated for a shift in the focus of school trips from recreational destinations like beaches to educational institutions such as science institutes. Speaking at the inauguration of the 'Science at Your Doorstep' exhibition at the Goa Science Centre and Planetarium, Sawant emphasized the importance of exposing students to scientific environments to foster a culture of innovation and scientific thinking. He highlighted that while beaches are enjoyable, they do not contribute to educational growth. Instead, visits to places like the Goa Science Centre could inspire students to pursue careers in science and technology, potentially leading to innovations that could benefit the state and the country. This initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance science education and encourage scientific temper among the youth.
