Dr. Michael Musacchio, a neurosurgeon at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City, Michigan, has been using a new device called the Intracept Procedure to treat chronic low back pain in over 150 patients. This innovative treatment targets the basivertebral nerve, which is responsible for transmitting pain signals from the vertebral body. By ablating this nerve, the procedure significantly reduces or eliminates pain for patients suffering from conditions like degenerative disc disease.
