Scientists have made a "once-in-a-century" discovery in Pompeii after unearthing a stunning ancient luxury spa with thermal baths and mosaic designs.

Archaeologists have unearthed a remarkably well-preserved banquet hall in Pompeii, dating back nearly 2,000 years, featuring stunning frescoes of mythological figures like Helen of Troy and Paris, as well as Apollo with Cassandra. This discovery, described as a "once-in-a-century" find, showcases the opulence of the ancient Roman city with its black walls, believed to hide soot from lamps, and intricate mosaic floors. The hall, part of a large, previously unexplored area of the site, provides insights into the luxurious lifestyle of Pompeii's elite before the catastrophic eruption of Mount Vesuvius in AD 79. The frescoes, which are in excellent condition, depict scenes from Greek mythology, reflecting the cultural and artistic tastes of the time. This find not only enhances our understanding of Roman art and architecture but also underscores the ongoing significance of Pompeii as a window into ancient life.
