ACHE advances education, approves programs, addresses workforce gaps

The Alabama Commission on Higher Education (ACHE) has taken significant steps to enhance educational offerings and address workforce shortages across the state. During its recent meeting, ACHE approved new academic programs, including a Bachelor of Science in Public Health at the University of South Alabama, aimed at tackling the public health workforce gap. Additionally, the commission greenlit a Master of Science in Nursing at Jacksonville State University, focusing on preparing nurse educators to alleviate the nursing shortage. ACHE also approved a Doctor of Nursing Practice at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, which will further support advanced nursing education. These initiatives reflect ACHE's commitment to aligning educational programs with the state's economic and workforce needs, ensuring that Alabama's higher education system remains responsive and relevant.
