Museveni urges institutions to guide learners while choosing courses

President Yoweri Museveni has reiterated his call to institutions of higher learning to prioritize the teaching of science and technology courses. The President also appealed to schools and universities to guide the learners to choose courses that are relevant to the job market.
President Yoweri Museveni of Uganda has urged educational institutions to provide better guidance to students when choosing their academic courses, emphasizing the importance of aligning educational choices with market demands and national development needs. Speaking at an event, Museveni highlighted the mismatch between the courses students often pursue and the actual job market requirements, which leads to unemployment among graduates. He stressed the need for courses that foster skills in science, technology, and vocational training, which are crucial for economic growth and innovation. Museveni also encouraged the integration of entrepreneurship education to enable graduates to create their own employment opportunities, thereby reducing dependency on government jobs and promoting self-reliance.
