  • On 5 September, His Royal Highness Lonkhokhela, Prince of the Kingdom of Eswatini, added his signature to Eswatini's second Country Programme Framework (CPF) with the IAEA, a document which will inform and guide the Kingdom's collaboration with the Agency's TC programme for the next five years, from 2024 to 2029.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has been instrumental in supporting Eswatini's efforts to leverage nuclear technology for sustainable development. Through the IAEA's technical cooperation program, Eswatini has seen advancements in various sectors including agriculture, where nuclear techniques help in soil fertility management and crop improvement; in healthcare, with the enhancement of cancer treatment facilities; and in water resource management, where isotopic techniques are used to study water sources and manage water quality. The IAEA's support has also extended to capacity building, training local experts, and providing equipment, which has significantly contributed to the country's ability to address food security, health, and environmental challenges. This collaboration aims to foster sustainable agricultural practices, improve public health services, and ensure the sustainable use of natural resources, aligning with Eswatini's broader development goals.
