New Highlights

  • Provides ready-to-deploy solutions for mobile operator OEMs and ODMs
  • Integrates Broadcom's low-power, small footprint 4G LTE small cell modem with Radisys' advanced LTE protocol stack
  • Scalable design addresses rising cellular capacity demands of residential and enterprise markets

Broadcom Corporation (NASDAQ: [ BRCM ]), a global innovation leader in semiconductor solutions for wired and wireless communications, and Radisys® Corporation (NASDAQ: [ RSYS ]), a market leader enabling wireless infrastructure solutions, today announced an agreement to create a family of residential, enterprise and metro small cell offerings. Visit [ Broadcom @ Mobile World Congress ] for more news.

The soaring demand for data traffic on mobile networks has caused carriers to adopt LTE small cells to address growing capacity requirements. Broadcom and Radisys will offer integrated technology to enable mobile OEMs and ODMs to speed deployment of stable and high performance LTE small cells in residential, enterprise and public access markets.

The combined offerings integrate Radisys' 4G Trillium® LTE TOTALeNodeB software into Broadcom's 4G LTE small cell modem, including the BCM616730 for residential small cells, the BCM616750 for enterprise small cells and the BCM616760 for high-capacity metro nodes. The combined system-on-a-chip (SoC) and software provides a pre-integrated solution that helps multiple mobile operators shave months off of their time to market with radio resource management (RRM), Self-Organizing Network (SON), operations, administration and maintenance (OAM) and 3GPP compliant protocol stacks for scalable 4G LTE small cell solutions.

Availability

Broadcom and Radisys small cell solutions are now sampling with volume production slated for Q2 2013.
