Bsquare Expands Security Offerings With McAfee Embedded Security Solutions

Agreement Adds Four Additional Security Products

BELLEVUE, WA--(Marketwire - Feb 14, 2013) - [ BSQUARE Corporation ] (NASDAQ: [ BSQR ]), a leading enabler of smart connected systems, today announced it is expanding its agreement with McAfee to include four additional products to Bsquare's distribution line of embedded security solutions in North America.

Bsquare has distributed McAfee Embedded Control since 2008. McAfee Embedded Control prevents unauthorized changes to devices to make them resistant to malware infections and attacks. To mitigate vulnerabilities and prevent attacks, McAfee addresses endpoint, network, and data security within the grid as part of a cohesive security solution for embedded systems.

The additional McAfee products now offered through Bsquare include:

  • McAfee Integrity Control - Blocks unauthorized applications and change on fixed-function, point-of-service infrastructures including ATMs, point-of-sale (POS) systems, and kiosks
  • McAfee Application Control - A centrally managed whitelisting solution that blocks unauthorized applications and code on servers, corporate desktops, and fixed-function devices
  • McAfee Endpoint Protection Suite - An integrated solution that secures Windows systems against malware and unauthorized devices, providing device control and critical email and web protection
  • McAfee VirusScanEnterprise - Combines anti-virus, anti-spyware, firewall, and intrusion prevention technologies to stop and remove malicious software

Today's embedded devices continue to require greater amounts of software to serve the requirements of both suppliers and end users. With more complex system features and mission-critical applications, embedded systems have become attractive targets for hackers and cyber terrorists. According to McAfee, by the year 2020 more than 50 billion devices will be connected to the Internet. With all of these embedded devices being connected, the exponential growth of malware will require increased protection.

"Bsquare has customers that cross many industries and deliver all types of commercial and consumer devices. As we have seen embedded solutions become more intelligent and more connected, we have also seen an increase in the need for different types of security solutions," said Mike Stipe, Senior VP of Worldwide Sales and Marketing for Bsquare. "By adding these new security products from McAfee, it allows us to provide a more tailored solution for our customers."

"Bsquare continues to demonstrate that they are a strong distribution partner for embedded solutions in North America," said Tom Moore, vice president of OEM Sales at McAfee. "We value our partnership with Bsquare as they understand the unique needs of embedded device makers including areas that demand increased security. With an expanded portfolio of our products they are in a position to extend even greater security options to their customers."
