Northrop Grumman Deploys Proxim Broadband Radios for U.S. Air Force Digital Wireless System
Enables Greater Distance, Bandwidth and Security for Tactical Warfighters in Remote Areas
SILICON VALLEY, CA--(Marketwire - Dec 20, 2012) - Proxim Wireless Corporation (
Proxim Wireless' Tsunami™ MP.11 HS 4454 is an ultra-secure FIPS 140-2 level 2 certified point-to-multipoint solution for federal, Department of Defense and NATO applications. It supports a wide range of frequencies with support for NATO and unlicensed frequency bands at very long distances using a single dual band radio with built-in AGC.
The TDC is a ground-to-ground communications infrastructure that transmits and receives voice, data and video communications via wireless, satellite or hard-wired sources. It is an essential communication infrastructure for computers, phones and imagery, especially in mission critical remote locations. WDM is the newest IP networking component of the Air Force's TDC system and consists of a single radio, operating in both commercial and NATO frequency bands.
"Fielding of TDC WDM puts the next-generation of wireless networking in the hands of today's warfighters," said Chris Maier, senior program manager of deployable communications for Northrop Grumman Information Systems. "As an industry partner with the military, we understand the complexity of the government's need for state-of-the-art remote communications with the assurance of security, accessibility and reliability. Proxim's HS 4454 equipment has been tested at distances greater than 45 miles in both the NATO and unlicensed band."
"Northrop Grumman has been instrumental to the Air Force's communication systems and choosing the most qualified and certified equipment vendors," said Geoff Smith, Vice President Business Development, Strategic Accounts at Proxim Wireless. "Our equipment has been a trusted source of communications for local, state, and federal government agencies as well as humanitarian relief operations due to mobile, modular and quickly deployable systems."
