MINNEAPOLIS--([ BUSINESS WIRE ])--MakeMusic, Inc. (Nasdaq: MMUS) today announced monthly subscription results for [ SmartMusic ][ ® ], the music learning software for band, orchestra and choir. SmartMusic subscriptions as of November month-end numbered 104,907, representing a net gain of 2,544 from the previous month and a 23% increase over the prior year. Additionally, at the end of November, 208 schools or districts had joined SmartMusic's site license program compared to 203 at the end of October.
SmartMusic Impact®, the web-based student grading and records management system included with SmartMusic, showed 1,353 teachers have issued assignments, a gain of 165 from the previous month and a 67% increase over November of last year. Impact teachers, those having issued assignments to 50 or more students, totaled 549 at the end of November. This compares to 443 Impact teachers at the end of October and a 63% increase over last year.
Finally, the number of SmartMusic educator accounts was 9,153 compared to 9,135 at the end of October, an increase of 18 accounts and an increase of 22% over last year.
CEO Ron Raup commented, "Our November results were generally in line with our expectations as this month represents the end of the buying cycle associated with the back-to-school season. While year-to-date subscriptions remain behind original projections, we continue to see evidence of our target business model, namely, when teachers issue frequent assignments with SmartMusic Impact, a majority of their students purchase home subscriptions. Accordingly, our primary focus continues to be assisting teachers currently subscribed to SmartMusic in their implementation of SmartMusic Impact."
